Back in Cochin for a night

We Tuk-tuk’d back to Willingdon Island and the Hilton and were greeted by half a dozen employees at the front desk.  I told one of the women who we were and that we had an Hhonors reward stay and she said “Yes. Yes” and proceeded to give me a $109/night room.  I told her that it was a points stay and she looked at me with the same vacuous look as last week.  Luckily, Charles, the one helpful guy at the hotel showed up.  When I explained what was going on, he said “Sir, it is 10,000 points.  Are you sure you have enough?”  I have enough to stay there for two and a half months…

We did manage to have lunch at our little Thali place again and then just enjoyed the creature comforts of a nice hotel room with HBO and cold beer in the fridge.  Since you are kind of stranded on Willingdon Island, we ended up having dinner at the Hilton and talking with two of the waiters, both bored out of their minds (the occupancy rate can’t be above 10%) and really nice guys.  After a bit, a funny old Indian man and another guy came in and we watched him arrogantly abuse the waiters, demanding to see the chef, complaining about too much ice in his drink, etc.  Entertaining but kind of sad to see.

Tomorrow we figure we will hang at the pool and relax before we head off to the airport and our flight to Goa.
