Central London - Houses of Parliament

London Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

Will get back to this once I have finished the busy period of my degree. VERY incomplete at the moment, sorry! Introducing sights, landmarks and things to do in London and some interesting places further afield

Central London - Houses of Parliament

Good Turkish restaurant just along the river Thames
TAS Pide is a turkish restaurant that, according to their buseness card, offers Londoners and people visiting London "Anatolia's Authentic Eating Experience". I have no idea what food from the region of Anatolia is like so I can't comment on whether it really is authentic but it is definitely very good.

The restaurant is situated in a side street just off the South Bank, very close to the Globe theatre. It might be a little difficult to find at first but is definitely worth looking for. I have only tried the starters there because we went with a big group and just shared lots of those, without having a main. The prices were okay considering it is in the middle of London and the quality of the food was outstanding. The staff seemed a bit cold but that might have been because we were occupying a table that needed to be cleared for a reservation and we were taking our time.

So overall I would say that if you're in London, TAS Pide is definitely worth considering.
Good Japanese food at very reasonable prices
Tokyo Diner is a restaurant just off Leicester Square, round the corner from Chinatown, that serves authentic Japanese cuisine. They have very good lunch offers and you can order them until after 5pm. You get complimentary green tea with your food so often I don't even bother ordering any other drink. The menu offers Bento Boxes - basically a box with several compartments containing rice, your main dish, pickles and soy sauce as well as Sushi, a few Japanese Curries and Soups. Overall, prices are very reasonable and you can easily have lunch there for under £10! The staff are quite reserved and the rule for payment is Japanese style: no tips accepted, just come back again with your friends! This is one of my favourite places and whenever I am in the area I make sure I come here.

My sister took me to the Tokyo Diner for lunch. I was surprised at how cheap it was considering the location.
