The drive to Strasbourg was not too bad.  After nearly 200 kilometers of nothing to see, we entered Strasbourg.  The area is really pretty with all the beautiful old buildings.  We had trouble finding parking that wasn't already full, and in the process of driving around realized we were driving in the streetcar tracks!  That was scary once we realized it, but luckily we were warned by the car behind us!  :O)  After driving around for awhile we found a parking garage with space and parked to walk.

We walked the booths at the Christmas Markt first.  This was much the same as the german Markts we've been too.  Lots of booths, lots of people.  I will be honest, I don't think the food we had was as good as the Germans.

The Cathedral was next on the agenda so we circled around looking at the outside and made our way indoors.  This Cathedral is huge!  The largest by far that we'd been in.  This one actually had signs to keep everyone moving in the same direction.  We've always just wandered around in the others.  The sculpture of Calvary was breathtaking!

After leaving the Cathedral we went around to the side and entered the office to gain entry to the stairwell to the top.  It was 300 steps up in 1 spiral staircase!  It seemed neverending!  After finally making it to the roof platform, we had to stay awhile to recover from the climbing.  The view was well worth the climb!  You could see forever from up there.

So after the trip down, which I didn't enjoy, we continued through the markt areas and the local shops to finish our night.  The streets were beautiful at night.  All the lights on the strorefronts and over the streets, with the Christmas tree lit in the Markt square made a wonderful ending to a tiring day.
