One of the nicest places to eat. Delicious hot chocolate and apple pie.
Arnhem was a necessary stop but it was not somewhere I would have planned to visit if I did not have a reason to do so. But  I was very pleasantly surprised. I liked the small city feel of Arnhem, most of the people were friendly and there are lots of good restuarants and coffee shops. Especially Granny's apple shop. The public library is a good place to check your email, but be quick as they charge by the quarter hour. English is widely spoken and it is possible to walk around the city and see remnants of the old city walls. The city was a trading place on the Rhine, since medieval times and the Town gates are still standing. The Boulevard quartier is also an interesting place to stroll to see some of the older style Dutch architecture.

Shopping is less expensive here than in the larger cities and there is still a lot of choice.

This is also the site of one of the biggest battle losses for the allied forces during WWII and a lot of tourists came here to see this.

I was here in winter so the weather was cool with quite a few showers. Altogether a nice place to spend a few days. Maybe next time I visit, I would take in a cruise on the Rhine.
