Im a northerner so Im not used to that slow swagger country life with mad greenery and animals. My life has been about running around like a maniac with the animals of the concrete jungles. lol. So while I was in SC I decided to immerse myself in the one thing I felt personified Southern life the most, a plantation. What an amazing experience that was. I chose to go to Magnolia Plantation, which was a large producer of rice back in the hayday, but is now a botanical wonder. I learned so much about how that lifestyle was lived, from the plantation owner persepective to the slave perspective.

There are different activities to do on the plantation, including a train ride, a boat ride, a house tour, a lecture on the slaves, and a self guided tour around the property.

This is where the Plantation owners lived. Now its a museum.
I would recommend doing them all, because they provide a different feel of the terrain, so its not like your doing the same thing on each one. My favorite part of the day was wondering around and taking in the beauty of this place. I felt so relaxed for a few moments in my life... something that I rarely experience as a new yorker. This place is so sirene and shows you how beautiful nature can be. There is also so much history to learn about this place, as many war activities have occurred here. This is the State that helped launch the Civil War, so you know theres a History lesson in every corner you turn to. Here are some of the amazing pictures I took of the place. Hope you enjoy.

I'm glad you made to a plantation. I went to one outside of NOLA last spring and it was beautiful with so much history too.
