Here in the neighbourhood you can never leave the city. All little towns are build against eachother, so after a long tour to get out of town, you still encounter a lot of concrete.

I got up quit early and even put on my sports clothing. But I did not leave so early. I didn’t feel like biking in the dark, because I wanted to take pictures and I thought to stop at my grandmothers, so I didn’t want to arrive there before dawn.

So it was past 8 o’clock and it was light. The weather wasn’t that good. The clouds were dark and heavy. Passing Portugaal it started to rain, but it was a brief shower. I took a wrong turn at Bernisse and was reminded why I wanted another camera. I saw two black swans. Much bigger than I had seen before on my way to Houten and once at the children’s farm. But they were too far away to take a pretty picture.

Just slightly up ahead was Canal of Voorne.

I noticed this building before. I wonder if those longitude and latitude are the position of this building.
On my way there I was running into the most beautiful rainbow I’ve ever seen. It was straight ahead. So when I looked in the middle I could see their roots just in the corners of my eyes. It was also quit bright and the longer it took to built up, The brighter and wider it became. I tried to catch it on picture, but looking back on my display the colors weren't so bright as it was in real life. I couldn’t catch the whole rainbow in one shot. So I made a little film, so I could try to past it together in PSP (if I ever install the thing again) Looking at the film I saw a big bird passing through. Maybe after some pasting there will be several birds ;D

I was just stepping on my bike, when I felt a shiver going through my body. Just 3 meters up ahead was a buzzard sitting in a tree.

God proved quite a artistic mood.
My blood began to pump harder, when I gently tried to grab my camera again. It was sitting between the branches, but so close I good easily zoom in on him. This would be my change. Just when I pointed my camera, he flew off. I have that a lot. Looks like most birds are camera shy or something. You can stand still, you can watch. But as soon as you grab a camera, they are off. I took his picture sitting on a fence up ahead, but my zoom didn’t came that close.

I turned left at Canal of Voorne and met some cormorants. They are pretty shy birds too. They are swimming between ducks, all kinds of gull, different kinds of geese. But they are always the first to take off. I caught two just ascending. What is a pretty neat side too. But because of my quickness to shoot, the photos turn out somewhat fuzzy.

The bridge between Hoogvliet and Spijkenisse.

At my grandmothers I had tea and sandwiches and left again at 3 o’clock. I didn’t go for Middelharnis cause it was too late. I biked the green zone back. I saw a raven, which was also too close on a fence. If I would stop to shoot a picture, he’d fly anyway. So I didn’t try. I found a wing of a bird on the floor and got myself a feather. I do not know what kind of bird. There were crows, ravens, cormorants and some geese which would fit.

I got to the sluice of Bernisse and there was a sign, right for Spijkenisse 5km. After that all signs stopped. There were a lot of falcons gliding there above the dykes and the fields. I got some of them on camera. Then at the end the road just stopped and I had to get back. I went through Hekelingen and Spijkenisse, getting lost 2 more times, because nowhere were any direction signs. Not even for the cars when I was biking along a highway. Finally I found the bridge and got home after dark. It was only half past five, but it gets dark early these days.
