Vikings & The City

We love Vikings... The hotel that is! We checked into the 2nd hotel in as many days after returning from the dog sled trip and there was nothing around that gave us the impression we would need to move on. The staff are superb and really friendly, there were no building works, the bathroom floor is heated and most importantly not too many questions were asked when we kept asking for pots of hot water! There is a simple explanation for this.. as we were on a budget, and I am a vegetarian we came up with a genius plan of taking cup-a-soups with us for our lunch and dinner... the 4 day soup diet is highly recommended!
Once we had unpacked and checked that we had all our thermals, hats and gloves on we headed out into the city to see what it is all about.
We left just after 2pm by which time it was completely dark (and I did actually feel like having a nap.
We walked down to the harbour near the Radisson SAS to get some photos of the Arctic Cathedral before deciding we needed warming up. We found a bar called Solid in the centre of the city that as well as doing (reasonably priced) cocktails did hot chocolate with cream... LUSH! Needless to say we would be returning to this place.
After the hot chocolate it was back to the hotel for an evening of cup-a-soups, odd Norwegian TV (lots of animal planet...) and lashings of vodka!
