Rockhampton, beef capital of Australia and not a whole lot else!

Tonight we made a stopover in Rockhampton. The tour usually goes to the rodeo but since it was Boxing Day, it was cancelled. Instead we went to the "RockHampton Social Club" which is like a bingo hall / tiny casino / legion hall. It was full of old people and familes having dinner. Then 36 young people showed up and I don't think the normal patrons were very happy. Especially when a few people started having drinking contests. I played Keno and won an astounding $2.50 (the price of my ticket) and some people won a little cash at the slot machines.
We then left when the bar closed and the bus dropped us off in Rocky's hardcore downtown area. I think we counted 5 bars in total. We found a great place that had an open air area on the second level and a patio area up a set of stairs. Even though it was Boxing Day it was still pretty dead so we went looking for another bar with more people. We ended up at a dodgy karaoke bar and had quite a laugh at some of the horrid singers. Unfortuantely there were too many people on the list ahead of us so no one in our group got a chance to sing.
It was difficult but we made the best of the Rocky, the not so happening town in Queensland!
