The Medieval City of Rhodes

This was probably my favorite stop on the entire cruise and I am hoping to have an opportunity to go back and spend a few days at least exploring this gorgeous island and the medieval city!  After spending the day at the beach, we didn't have a lot of time to explore the city itself.  The tour bus dropped us back off at the ship and we walked back into the fortified city.  It is incredible to see in person yet, ironically, I have the least pictures from this stop.  I had not brought my camera everywhere since we were hanging on the beach and I was worried about something happening. 

Once we entered the fortified city of Rhodes, I was awestruck.  Everything was incredibly preserved and I felt like I truly just stepped back in time.

  I don't think I've ever seen anything as beautiful as the little cobblestone streets, the architecture of the restaurants and stores, and just the overall feeling while we were walking around.  I read that many Hollywood movies were filmed there and I am not surprised, given the natural beauty and historical significance of the area.  And that being said, not suprising Rhodes is a UNESCO site as well! :-) 

Sadly, our time went too quick.  We had stopped for a bite to eat which ended up resulting in the biggest beer (outside of a yard) I've ever seen!  We wandered around a couple stores, still searching for clothes for me since my luggage had still not shown up, and then we spotted a wine shop on our way out.  What a fun place - the guy was very knowledgeable and recommended some great buys for Greek wines.  We bought a bottle and ran to the ship (literally!)  We had about 5 minutes to spare before the ship departed as we arrived at the security entrances.  Thank heaven we were only a couple loooong blocks away!
