I have lived in NYC all my life and always talk about the OTHER places I have been...lately I have realized that I live in an amazing city and it's time to share my HOME!

Brooklyn! (The "other" borough)

I have lived in NYC since I was born...and I have always written about other places!  I have taken for

granted the amazing city that this is.  So I want to repay my home town by honoring it with some acollades in return

for the wonderful years here.  I guess I am a nature girl at heart and love the great outdoors; the mountains, the sea,

the endless grassy fields....New York is not a whole lot of that!  BUT what it lacks in nature, it makes up for in culture, energy,

diversity and innovation.  It is because of where I live I think, that I have grown to love and appreciate traveling so much.

The ethnicities, food, cultural arts, and diverse ways of life here in this one tiny place....has made me want to go

and see each of the places where these things and people come from.

Brooklyn MOZZ! Da best!
..first hand!

Brooklyn is what many call the other borough and certainly do not give it enough credit.  It may not have the

glamourous skyscrapers and crush of variety in one square mile that Manhattan has...but it has something else - flavor!

Though time and evolution have changed a lot of what make Brooklyn special...there are precious snippets of it that remain.

Here and there you can still see, on a balmy summer evening, Italian macho men, sitting outside their local cafe, sipping wine

on a foldout table with chairs, talking about the Italian soccer game they just watched.  Everywhere is an ethnic restaurant (Italian,

Lebonese, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, West Indian, Middle Eastern, Indian, .......) that will blow your socks off!  The food in Brooklyn is

great and nowhere, I mean nowhere, in the world can you get pizza like you can in Brooklyn....not even in Naples, Italy (I tried!  Still

nothing compares).  A place in DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Brooklyn Overpass) called Grimaldi's pizza has lines of people almost

every night just for their pizza!

Brooklyn is special for so many reasons...these are JUST a few!

Great blog! My grandparent's got married the day my grandmother cleared Ellis Island from Naples. They lived the rest of their lives in Brooklyn, where my father was born and raised :-D

Have you read "Forever" by Peter Hamill? A beautiful tale I believe would strike a chord with you...if you have enjoyed I would be very interested to hear your review as an NYC insider!
