Temple tours I: Tanah Lot
July 14, 2001
Since I haven't found my travel notes yet I can juzt give a short overview about the following days. Without naming the exact places we visited. At least I remember the names of two of them.
The most popular of the Balinese Sea Temples is Pura Tanah Lot which does mean: "Land amidst the sea". The temple is located within the district of Tabanan at the southwestern coast of the island. Since Tanah Lot is the most popular photo motif on bali we were not surprised to find the place overcrowded with tourists and traders. We got our private moment with this beautiful piece of architecture, though. After having scanned the area we climbed down the rocks and walked to the left (southeastwards) a little bit. From that point we had a pretty nice view (see the picture) and there was nobody with us. :-)
