Yosemity National Park

First we went to the base of El Capitan. Watching for climbers. Turned out that it was not easy to get to the base of the monolith. Perhaps we missed the right path. Anyway, we stumbled through the forest for 15 minutes until we reached our destination. The view from below was fascinating. Then we spotted some climbers hanging in the wall - and that was simply unbelievable! I do not suffer from vertigo but these sight made my flesh crawl (later, in the evening hours, we spotted some climbers again - or rather there lamps)!

Next stop were the world famous (lower) Yosemite Falls. But as we had already seen from Glacier Point there were only little amounts of water running down the rocks at this time of the year. Not very spectacular at all. Fortunately another famous waterfall we visited on this day was in operation: Bridalveil Fall. It is 620 feet (188 m) tall. Although it was not as powerful as during spring time it was still very impressive.

Later we spotted a coyote from our car while we were driving to the supermarket. And this was not our last encounter of the animal kind. We stood on one of the bridges above Merced River when suddenly a Black bear mummy with its two cubs stepped out of the forest and crossed the river. An angler sat at the opposite riverbank. Since the trio was heading exactly in his direction he got up and started shouting and waving. He was successful. The animals did a runner immediately.
