In the summer of 1996 my cousin and I travelled through the Southwest. 4,000 miles on the road, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco plus a dozen National Parks including Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly NM, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Arches, Dead Horse Point SP, Bryce Canyon and Yosemite. Glorious days.

Santa Barbara

Santa Barabara was our first destination on this day. We loved the adobe architecture. This should be a perfect place to live at after retirement.
On the main street we found a small record store that offered used CDs for very reasonable prices. This was unknown in Germany in those days. If I remember it correctly each of us bought about 15 CDs! Afterwards we drove to the beach close to the famous pier and enjoyed a bath in the ocean. Very refreshing. After that my cousin sunbathed whereas I walked along the seashore for an hour.
