Monterey --> 19-Mile-drive --> Monterey

Monterey Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

In the summer of 1996 my cousin and I travelled through the Southwest. 4,000 miles on the road, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco plus a dozen National Parks including Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly NM, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Arches, Dead Horse Point SP, Bryce Canyon and Yosemite. Glorious days.

Monterey --> 19-Mile-drive --> Monterey

The "17-Mile Drive" provides a lot of scenic viewpoints.
We spent the whole day driving around the Monterey peninsula. "17 mile drive" to be precisely. It is a scenic road that runs along the coastline and offers great viewpoints. we stopped at Panish Bay, Point Joe, Seal Rock, Fanshell Overlook and Cypress Point Lookout. Of course I took a picture of the "Lone Cypress", the official symbol of Pebble Beach. It is supposed to be the most photographed tree in the world. Well, I do not know. But it is definitely worth a visit. Vista is great!

At the end of our trip we stopped at Pebble Beach Golf Links. I have never been a huge golf fan. But every once in a while I had watched German golf legend Bernhard Langer playing (on tv). And at least I knew about  this world famous golf links at Pebble Beach. I took my chances and directly walked onto the 18th green.  Suprisingly this was no problem. Obviously admission was free. The result is this picture below my cousin took of me.
