Grand Canyon, AZ - Exploring the western and eastern South Rim

Grand Canyon Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

In the summer of 1996 my cousin and I travelled through the Southwest. 4,000 miles on the road, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco plus a dozen National Parks including Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly NM, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Arches, Dead Horse Point SP, Bryce Canyon and Yosemite. Glorious days.

Grand Canyon, AZ - Exploring the western and eastern South Rim

Spent the whole morning exploring the South Rim west of Grand Canyon Village. Getting up early turned to be a wise decision. We did barely meet other tourists before 10 am. Maricopa Point, Hopi point and Mohave Point - we had all theses places just for us! The silence combined with the stunning view was overwhelming. We followed the trail until its end at Hermits Rest and took the shuttle bus back to the campground.
In the afternoon we drove along the eastern part of the South Rim drive. Stopped at every single viewpoint, took pictures and enjoyed the great view and weather! Another great day!
