In the summer of 1996 my cousin and I travelled through the Southwest. 4,000 miles on the road, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco plus a dozen National Parks including Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly NM, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Arches, Dead Horse Point SP, Bryce Canyon and Yosemite. Glorious days.

When we returned to our campsite at Dead Horse Point SP we realized that the producer of our tent had done a terrific job. Althoug it looked a little bit crooked it was undamaged. Only one of the tent pegs had come off. However the habitations of some of the other campers on site were in a rather deplorable condition.
It was early evening and we were not in sleeping mood. So we drove to Dead Horse Viewpoint and enjoyed the great panorama again. After that we celebrated our "survival" with a delicious soup and some Nachos with spicy sauce at our campsite. It was a great evening. Perhaps the most memorable besides our first evening at Grand Canyon National Park. We sat there and talked about the past days. Then enjoyed the silence and peacefulness. I really felt blessed having the opportunity to do such a great journey.
