Arches NP, "Devil's Garden" (day 2)

Arches National Park Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

In the summer of 1996 my cousin and I travelled through the Southwest. 4,000 miles on the road, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco plus a dozen National Parks including Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly NM, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Arches, Dead Horse Point SP, Bryce Canyon and Yosemite. Glorious days.

Arches NP, "Devil's Garden" (day 2)

Whereas we had concentrated on the "Windows Section" and "Delicate Arch" the day before it was time for "Devils Garden" now. This fascinating section of the park was located very close to our campground.
Hiking within the area is easy. It is important  to bring enough water, though. At least during summertime. Temperatures went up to about 35.0 °C (95.0 °F) during our visit. Our first target was "Tunnel Arch". Then we proceeded to "Landscape Arch" - the longest arch within the park and the second longest in the world with a span of 88.3 m (290 feet). There is a trail leading below the arch but it had been closed by the park administration some years ago due to the possibility of collapsing sandstone slabs.
We followed the trail leading to several other arches including Partition Arch, Wall Arch, Double-O Arch etc.
