USA Southwest - 1996

Los Angeles Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

In the summer of 1996 my cousin and I travelled through the Southwest. 4,000 miles on the road, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco plus a dozen National Parks including Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly NM, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Arches, Dead Horse Point SP, Bryce Canyon and Yosemite. Glorious days.

Arrival

Arrival in Los Angeles arround 4 pm (direct flight from Cologne, Germany). Just got our rental car and drove to the hotel. This one was the only accommodation I had booked in advance. Later in the evening we had a supersized pizza in a very small restaurant around the corner.

The only other detail I remember of this looong day is what the guy at the car rental told us with his latino accent when we were given the key: "Damage to the car is already included" We should thankfully remember this comment some days later. But that is another story...
