What a whirlwind of a trip... San Jose -> LA -> New York in 9 days. Yikes!

Boston -> New York

Next, the long journey back to the East Coast...

I woke up the morning of the 29th in LA.  By that night, I was in San Jose.

By the next morning of the 30th, I was in Boston.  By that night, I was in New York.

Yikes.

If you're ever in Boston and need to get to New York, think of the
Chinatown Busses.  Whether its Feng Wah or Lucky Star, you can
take a bus to New York for as little as $15 each way.  Busses
leave every hour, so you'll never have to wait very long to get
on.  Plus, you don't have to buy tickets until you get there, so
it makes for less hassle of planning.

A trip usually takes 4 hours without traffic, but sometimes can take as long as 5.5.

Yeah, the Chinatown buses are pretty cool. Very cheap. A good place to find a ticket is www.busjunction.com, makes it easy to compare between the different bus lines.

If you go on the greyhound website and get an eticket you can take the bus round trip for the same price as Fung Wah. The Fung Wah horror stories are true, and honestly I don't know how they are allowed to stay in business. With Greyhound, you leave from South Station as well, but you get into Port Authority which has the subway and cabs right there.

Good tip, I used Fung Wah bus each and every time I travelled to NY. I have heard some horror stories about spontaneous combustion and the likes, but it was always efficient for me, taking 4 hours every time. Whatever you do, remember where the bus stop is in Chinatown NYC! I have yet to meet a taxi driver who's heard of Fung Wah, so you'll have to guide them!

Oh, and an update...Fung Wah and Lucky Star buses now leave from South Station's Bus Terminal, and not Chinatown (in Boston).
