I was very surprised with the people in South Africa
Before getting there I´ve read that
People were very friendly and helpful. I met many African descendents, Hindis and Chinese living there . But there´s something that has to be told and warned.
It´s very common that children approaches when you´re at restaurants, bars or at the beach. They usually come to you with a notebook asking for donation for children from an orphanage. They ask you to sign the notebook and then ask for the money. “It´s for buying books, food, clothes…” they say. It happened with me at

If you do not have a lot of time and are travelling on a shoestring you can take local buses which I found safe and ok: http://www.greyhound.co.za, http://www.translux.co.za...
If you have time and want to visit lots of places it is worth to take the Baz Bus http://www.bazbus.com/ that´s a very convenient hop on and hope off door to door backpacker bus service
