Relaxing in Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia

During our 15 days in Australia we took a 3 hour flight north to Carnes where a car picked us up for another hour ride up to Port Douglas which was our base for swimming in the ocean, snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, taking a 4 wheel adventure thru the Daintree Rainforest and simply a couple day of relaxation.
If you find yourself in Port Douglas on vacation, Rebecca and I would both highly recommend staying at the Meridian Port
This hotel (really a serviced apartment) is run by a husband and wife couple who are so very nice and go out of their way to make sure you have a good say.
Poseidon Snorkeling trip:
I was a first time snorkeller but had an amazing time!
This is a full day trip to the Agincourt Reef, taking about 1 and a half hours to get there (and the same back) and stopping at 3 different locations.
Tony’s Tropical Tours
This tour was Rebecca’s favorite highlight of our trip to
We drove thru rivers, up mountains and along the beach. We stopped for morning and afternoon tea/coffee where Tony brews it up on the tail gate of the truck at a random stop along the trail. Lunch was provided, steaks on the grill, so all around it is worth every penny.
One highlight was on a beach after the tide had gone out and we chased millions of tiny solders crabs. They were so cool!
Exploring the rich rainforest ecosystem was so amazing that the 12 hours together with people you didn’t know when you got up in the morning turns out to be a one of a kind adventure you will live over and over again in you mind.
Enjoy the pictures!
