One Wedding and Alot of Dancing
Well well well, I have reached the final day of my trip. I spent the last few days in Maryland preparing for, then attending my friend Nicola's wedding. I'd never been to a wedding before and it was all a bit of a surreal experience, it feels like only yesterday that we were in Mrs Palfrey's tutor group at school. I thought it was a lovely wedding though, really simple and laid-back. It was good to see Nicola, it'll probably be the last time for a while. Also to meet her now husband, Evan, who seemed like a nice guy. I stayed with Evans' family for three of the nights and the night before the wedding we spent in a rather fancy hotel, though by the time we got there we were too tired/intoxicated to appreciate it really.
The reception was hilarious, quite a few of Nicola's family had flown over and were doing more than their fair-share of the dancing.
Much to the surprise of the Americans, most of whom seemed unable or disinterested in keeping up. I did enjoy the wedding but having been in several different time zones and about 5 different beds within the last week I wasn't really sure if I was coming or going. No matter how well I sleep, I feel permanently exhausted. Which is possibly part of the reason why I'm feeling so miserable about coming home. As I guess anyone is after a holiday really, but when the holiday has lasted more than six months it's a different sort of return. On the one hand I'm thrilled that I get to see all the people I've missed, even if I have to wait a few days to see some of them. On the other hand; I'm skint, I have to go back to work, I have to move back in with my parents and most of my friends have moved away from Leicester. So yeh, mixed feelings but I'll try to make the best of things.I'm not even going to attempt any sort of trip summary right now, I'm far too tired but suffice to say: it's had its highs and lows, but on the whole it's been bloody brilliant and I wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again. For those of you who know Nicola, and possibly those of you who don't, here are some pics from the wedding. See you all soon! x
