Last stop
Palenque in Chiapas was my last stop before leaving Mexico. Hanging out in the town of Palenque was pretty pointless. Nice people all around, but not much of a city. It seemed to exist mainly because of the Palenque ruins, which is fine because they are extraordinary. They are tucked away in the jungle a short ride outside of town. Here were/are some of the best looking ruins in all of Mexico, and they are in the best shape of the ones I saw. We spent the entire day climbing up and down the random ruins, in the tunnels, and on random paths into the bush. There's not much else to say about this place except that it's beautiful and worth going to. But it does get extremely hot so take lots of water and go early so you're not stuck in the heat of the day.
Overall though this trip was amazing. I met some great people and saw tons of amazing place I didn't even know existed. I look forward to another trip back when I'm finished with my service in Thailand. It's a great place to visit and very affordable!
