since yesterday rained, today was going to be my only day to really do anything in vang vieng. so....i decided that i would bike to the caves in the morning & then either tube or kayak later in the afternoon.
so, i rented a bike first thing & headed out to the caves. i have to really thank sara schor for telling me to get a mountain bike & not a cruiser. i DEFINITELY needed the mountain bike! it was a great ride out through the countryside, with mountains/karsts on both sides. i was lucky that it had rained the day before, because i think it cooled things off a bit. it was a nice comfortable ride otu tehre & i made it to the pakhoun (sp?) cave. when i got there, i climbed the couple hundred steps to get up to the caves.
when i biked back the hotel, i decided that i would do the kayaking thing. i actually wasn't feeling that hot....i think my bad nights of sleep were catching up with me & i was defintiely feeling a bit out of it. i just wasn't feeling the whole tube down the river & drink all day vibe. i'm sure i would have loved it on another day - but it just wasn't going to happen for me. SOOOOO - i booked a kayaking trip. it was HILARIOUS. some how i ended up in a group with all chinese & lao folks.
so, he picked me up (i am dying b/c i can't remember his name now.
such a random evening - but just perfect! i do wish i had more time in vang vieng...i could see spending many more days here chilling, biking, tubing & relaxing....i will just have to save that for another trip i guess! :)
