Me at the Moeraki Boulders.

****DAY FIFTY-EIGHT (Thurs, Jan 29) - MEETING UP WITH BELINDA IN SUMNER****

I woke up & did the run down the mole & down the beach again.  It was so funny, when I was running down the mole - there was a sea lion just parked in the middle of the path - not planning to move at all!  I got some pics & then was on my way (before I left I made a point to get some pictures of the cats (there's one in here of Marley) and of all the fish!)

I decided to swing through Dunedin to get another cup of that DELICIOUS coffee at Mazagran.  Seriously the best flat white I've had since I've been in NZ.

And then I was off....I had a long day of driving ahead of me.

Belinda & me at the Ruptured Duck.
I drove & drove & drove - my only really interesting stop was at the Moreiki Boulders.  Very cool thing to stop & see.  It basically looks like a bunch of enormous marbles strewn all over the beach.  Took some pictures & then started driving some more - stopped off in Ashburton for a snack - and then drove some more towards Christchurch.  I was meeting up with Belinda in Sumner, a beach town outside of Christchurch - and MAN, did I get lost heading out there.  If you look at a map, it does not look difficult at all....but in practice, it was VERY confusing.  I am really not sure exactly how I got there - it would have been funny to see the route I actually took, but I FINALLY arrived at the Marine Backbackers in Sumner & was so excited to see Belinda again!!!  I'm so glad we got a chance to reconnect & hang out again.
A.J. (a.ka. Arnie Jonathan) - the bartender at the Ruptured Duck
She's been living in Sumner for the past 3ish weeks working at the Ruptured Duck (a pizza restaurant/bar) & doing a ton of surfing.  I'm so glad she was there because I don't know if I would have known to stay there.  It is such a cool little town....I would highly recommend staying there instead of staying in Christchurch.  There's a bus that goes into town that's super easy.  Definitely the place to stay!

Anyway, we caught up for awhile....so much had happened for both of us in the past month it was hard to know where to start!  We headed over to the Ruptured Duck & had a delicious dinner & had fun catching up more.  I met AJ (the bartender) & Janet & Alex (the owners) who have become a good friends of Belinda.  It was cool to see what she's been up to & the town & the restaurant both have such a good feel about them.
