*****DAY FIFTY-FIVE (Monday, Jan 26th) - A RELAXING DAY IN DUNEDIN AT THE HAZYM RANCH*****
Decided to move my ticket out one week later! Woo hooo! I'm so excited. I'm going to go to the A.R.E.A 9 concert with Chris & Heidi & a group of their friends. It's a music festival with all NZ bands....camping weekend & all. I'm going to head up to Christchurch, Kaikoura, etc - have time to do the stuff I want to do there....and then head back down to Twizel & meet up with them...and then leave on the 10th. So crazy! I love it.
Today was a whole lot of nothing.
****DAY FIFTY-SIX (Tues, Jan 27th) - WILD WINDY DAY & LOTS OF WILDLIFE!*****
Speaking of wildlife, that's pretty much all I did today! Started with the butterfly exhibit at the Otago museum (SO cool - there was this one butterfly that befriended me & hung out with me for at least 10 minutes), followed by the albatross colony (also SO cool - it was a very windy day so there were a ton of them out there flying around!), and wrapped up with the Nature Tours thingy (and yet another cool thing for the day - got to drive in an argo, saw fur seals, penquins, and shags - defintiely a worthwhile tour).
The drive back from the Otago Peninsula was crazy - it took me an hour to get back to Chris & Heidi's. It's such a tease because it felt like I could practically touch there house from out there & then I had to drive ALL the way back into Dunedin, then out again to the Port & then out to Aramoana!
Mellow night of pizza & watching Tropic Thunder with Chris & Heidi.
Oh & I bought Max this penquin egg thingy where you put it in water & the penquin will come out of it's shell & grow into a little penquin pet. We put it in water & he was so funny - he said he was going to watch it until it hatched. (It takes 12-24 hours to do that!) So cute. So, we'll see how the egg does! Very exciting.
****DAY FIFTY-SEVERN (Wed, Jan 28th) - ANOTHER RELAXING DAY. LOVE IT.*****
Beautfiul run this morning down the mole & then down the beach. It was wonderful to be on the beach ALL ALONE. It was so peaceful!!! :) At one point I looked up and there was a seal (or a sea lion - who knows) just playing in the waves - sooooo cool!
I then made my way into town, mailed my first package home, had the BEST flat white I've had to date at Mazagran Espresso Bar, walked around town, got a delicous kebab at a Turkish restaurant called Paasha, burned some DVDs, and just walked around. Very mellow day. The weather wasn't that great, so it was a good day to hop online & get updated on my blog.
When I went back to the house, Chris made a great suggestion that I do the hike up the huge hill close to their house.
Anyway, then Chris and I hung out for a bit & I got a lesson about salt water fish tanks. They have 4 tanks in their house & they are so awesome! :) It was fun to learn more about them.
