****DAY FIFTY-TWO CONT (FRI, JAN 23rd) - MULLETS & FAST, LOUD CARS IN INVERCARGILL*****
The drive to Invercargill was fine. Nothing too much to report there. When I got into Invercargil it was so weird though....there were TRAFFIC LIGHTS. Bizarre. I hadn't seen those in so long. And honestly, Invercargill is a very strange place over all. There's just a weird feeling about it - the streets are so wide, it's pretty sterile feeling, there are lots of mullets, & it's the type of place where kids pile into cars, turn their music up really loud and cruise the streets on Friday nights. I could have been somewhere in Minerva. Not that they do that in Minerva.
Turns out that Dominic was going to be in Invercargill tonight so we got together for dinner. For some reason we decided to do sushi. It was NOT good. And not good sushi is just really bad. Oh well. Dominic seemed to enjoy it so I didn't say anything! :) After dinner we cruised around town....it was so funny. The bars we went into were just so classic. We got a beer at one where they were having some Texas Hold 'Em tournament going on. Then, we went to a Speight's Ale House I think....it was hilarious in another way...there were these 3 women singers belting out hits like "I don't like reggae, I love it" (what's up JD?!?)...."It's raining men" (Dominic asked me to explain what that meant in English - he didn't really understand....and "Like a Prayer". It was a total backpacker type crowd mixed with some local flavor as well when a "hen party" clucked on through.
Such a random night in Invercargil! I'm glad Dominic was there because I don't know if I would have made it to all those places!
