*****DAY FORTY-NINE (Tuesday, January 20th) - RUNNING INTO PEOPLE IN TE ANAU*****
I left Queenstown & headed to Te Anau today. That's bascially the town near the Milford & Doubtful Sounds where you have to go to do the different tours from there. By the way, have I mentioned how much I love driving?!? It's been awesome and I'm SOOOO glad I decided to rent a car. :)
So, today I ended up running into everyone from Queenstown. It was defintiely random because Danny, Susan & Birger were driving through to Milford Sound & they randomly stopped in Te Anau & drove by me right when I stepped out of a movie theatre (I had just watched "Shadowland", a movie about Fiordland).
THEN - when I went back to my hostel, Alex (the guy from the night before in Queenstown) was in the parking lot. He was staying at the same hostel! So, we decided we'd make dinner together. We were both defintiely tired from the previous night dancing in Queenstown, so a nice, mellow night sounded fun. I was impressed with what we pulled together. I had some food from an earlier trip to the grocery store & he ran out & grabbed some stuff too. We had a "fancy" Italian dinner....complete with soup, salad, bread, & pasta. Very "flash", huh? Anyway, it was a fun night just hanging out. Alex is from Switzerland & he used to be on the Swiss tele-marking (that's not what it's called but it's something like that & I can't remember what he called it) team. He's actually biking around New Zealand! I'm always so impressed when I meet people who are doing that. We *might* see each other again in Christchurch at the beginning of February - but I'm not sure if the timing will work. We'll see!
I got the funniest jumping picture to date. This picture made me laugh so hard!
