#32 - one day in queenstown
*****DAY FORTY-EIGHT (Monday, January 19th) - PARTYING LIKE A ROCKSTAR IN QUEENSTOWN******
I woke up at 10am today! Holy moly. I definitely needed my sleep! :)
I went upstairs and met some of the folks hanging around having breakfast. I met Danny & Susan from Germany (shoot - is that where they are from?!? I forgot now!) and Birger from Copenhagen. We all agreed to meet later that day to do the luge together. So, they left to do some errandy stuff & I went out for a run. Luckily it was a gorgeous day! I ran down by the water & ended my run at Patagonia for the MOST delicious flat white!
Danny, Susan & Birger decided they were going to walk up to the luge.
...and I decided I was going to take the gondola up (I definitely got a lot of shit for taking the "lazy" way up!). :) Anyway, I got up the gondola a good hour & a half before they did, so I hung out, read the paper (there was an article about the Wanaka Challenge) and admired the view of the lake. When they found me at the top, we headed for the luge. It was definitely a good time! We did the course twice...you have to do the more "scenic" route (what they call it) first & then you can do the more "advanced" course. Both courses were a lot of fun! After the luge, we decided to meet back at the Butterfli Lodge & then go out to dinner (they were walking down & I was taking the gondola down....like a true LA girl.
..why walk when you can get a ride?!?) Anyway - when we finally met up, we headed out for the Pig & Whistle. Rumor had it there was live music there. Well, there wasn't. But we did have some delicious beers & we were all so hungry so we were excited to eat there as well. I had run into Sina (the girl I met in Taupo, who I had seen in Wanaka) and we had made plans to meet up...so I went to meet up with her & brought her & two of her friends (Anne & Alex) to join us. We ended up having quite the group! It definitely turned into a very fun evening. We went to Dux de Lux after Pig & Whistle and eventually ended up at Winnie's. OMG. What a funny night. We basically started our own little dance floor & were having a blast.
Then, it was so funny though - at about midnight, it was like we literally turned around and there was all of a sudden fifty18-yr olds dancing on tables! Next thing you know, were were all dancing & screaming the words to "So What" (Pink) and that sound "You're yes than you're no, you're stop then you're go, you'r wrong than you're right, you're black then you're white"....and of course Britney's "Womanizer". I think we were there until about 2am or so. So, there you have it - I had my typical Queenstown experience. :) It was a very fun night. Overall, I didn't love Queenstown...there - I said it! - but it was definitely a fun day.
