#27 - another awesome day in wanaka - including paragliding! :)
*****DAY FORTY! (Sunday, January 11th, 2009) - WOW - WHAT A GORGEOUS SUMMER DAY*****
Another beautiful day in Wanaka! I got up and went for a run around the lake & then stopped by this cute crafts fair & farmers market (which consisted of about 8 booths! so cute!) on my way back.
I had decided to go parasailng! I was definitely scared but it sounded so cool to be soaring above this beautiful scenery. So, I did the type of parasailing where you basically run & jump off a cliff and start flying. Of course I did it tandem though!!! That goes without saying. Anyway, it was definitely fun at first and whenever I could relax into it I really enjoyed it. There were a couple times though where my parasailing-dude thought it would be fun to simulate a roller coaster.
The first time it was fun....I was screaming & laughing & couldn't believe the amount of g-force that I was feeling! The second time he did it however, I started to feel a bit weird after it. Thank god the ride was almost over. When I got down onto the ground all I wanted to do was lay down. I definitely felt a bit out of it. So - yes - it was fun....but I don't think I need to do that again!!! :)After my parasailing adventure I went into town by the lake and took a nap for a bit. I think I was still needing to get my stomach a bit more settled. When I got up and was walking into town, I ran into Chris and Dick who I had met in Taupo! I sat with them for a bit and then since Chris was about to go sky diving, I decided to go out there with them and watch the whole experience.
It was fun seeing them again! After Chris had his sky divining adventure....which he (and everyone else who did it) LOVED it and said it was the best experience they've ever had - we went back into town and got some drinks. (I would have been tempted to go if I hadn't just gone parasailing & still felt a bit nauseous!)
Anyway, we ended up at Kai Whakapai (pronounced - Kai Fucka Pai...I swear...the Wh's are prounounced like F's) and it was awesome. They had a d.j. who was playing reggae music, the sun was shining and we had a few beers. Such a perfect summer day!
That night I ended up having a pretty mellow evening. Wanaka has movies in the park and I watched part of it that night...it was Grease - so fun. Anyway, I was tired so I headed on "home" to the Fern Lodge. I tried to take a picture of this amazing full moon that was rising over the city, but I couldn't figure out how to get the camera to capture the shot.
