*****DAY TWENTY-SIX (December 28, 2008) - The ferry and my car!*****
I got on the ferry around 10am or so & got ready to head south. I couldn't believe how BIG of a ship it was. It really was like I was on a cruise or something. I headed for the top deck so I could see the gorgeous views all the way. I ended up sitting next to the nicest family...Jim, Sarah & Chris Leonard. They were from Indiana! Go Hoosiers! :) It was really a treat meeting them because it made the ferry ride much more enjoyable. It was fun to exchange travel stories & plans (and since the ferry we are now Facebook friends...fun. :) )
So, we got to Picton and that's when I rented my little baby! It's funny thinking about the process I went through to actually start driving. I was definitely nervous about it...so after they gave me the keys, I switched into major dilly-dally gear (anyone who did ALC with me knows that I'm very good at that!). All of a sudden I was rearranging stuff in my bags, going into the ferry building to change into shorts, going back into the building to buy a coke....just kind of doing things to get my nerves out I think. And then, by the time I finally got in the car, I think the whole parking lot was almost empty. Actually not a bad strategy! :)
So then I was off!
