Tropical Storm Erin

Tropical Depression Erin over central Oklahoma
In August 2007, Tropical Storm Erin struck the Texas coast, moved inland, and weakened.  However, once it entered the unstable Oklahoma atmosphere, the remnants of the storm redeveloped into a Tropical Depression, which is something that does not happen in Oklahoma!  The storm had and eye and was rotating.  It was a very unusual event.  The weathermen were baffled.  Tornadoes touched down (which is not common in August) and torrential rains flooded the Oklahoma City metroplex and surrounding areas.  My husband and I had just moved into an apartment a couple weeks before, and our new carpet was flooded from all the rain.  Strong winds also caused quite a bit of damage and power outages.   We had no idea that this storm was so intense.
