Visiting family in Chicago during the summer of 2002

A Nice Summer Trip

Sunset from Lake Michigan

I had been to Chicago a few times, but it was always to drive or fly through.  In July of 2002, my former stepmom offered to fly me there to visit her for a week, so of course, I accepted.  It was really nice to be able to see the city and tour around with someone that actually lives there.

Overall I was pleased with my visit.  Transportation was widely available, making it easy to get around.  There is always something to do.  Plus there is some great food.  My main goal in visiting Chicago was to get a Chicago style pizza, which I did.  It was fantastic (it was at Gino's East).  We got it with artichokes.

I got to go to Wrigley Field and see the Cubs lose (haha).  I also got to go shopping on amazing Michigan Avenue.  I toured around Navy Pier and also took a ferry around Lake Michigan to get another view.  It was a really nice trip and I would love to go back.

Museum of Science and Industry
During my trip to Chicago, I went to the Museum of Science and Industry. I like science themed museums, so I figured I would like this one. This museum has a lot of hands on exhibits, making them even more interesting. It seemed like a fun, family friendly place to spend an afternoon and learn a thing or two. My favorite part of the museum was the aircraft section. They have a fuselage from an airplane suspended from the ceiling. You can walk inside it if you want, but if you have a problem with heights, you might want to stay back. The fuselage does sway a bit with all the people walking around.
