Sunny winter days on Amalfi Coast!
We arrived late in the afternoon in the largest town of the Amalfi coast and climbed quickly the long way of 60 stairs that lead to the
Sant'Andrea Cathedral,a structure in the Lombard-Norman style with imposing bronze doors.
We did at dusk a short visit of this town full of steps where every street hides a square, where,in the past, people used to sell
merchandise.
Set in a wide cleft in the cliffs,Amalfi is the largest town of the Amalfi coast.
Founded by the Romans in the forth century A.D,becoming independent in 893,Amalfi was the first Maritim Republic with its own
money and own laws, till the end of the eleventh century.
That was an important trading power in the Mediterranean.
Tavole Amalfitane was the first maritime code in all the world, they could be seen in the Museo Civico .
