Getting news which could change my plans...
November 21, 2008
Today we woke up early and left in order to go to the hockey practice. This time I didn't want to miss it, so took my gloves, scarf and blanket, haha. Do you think I'm exaggerating? no way!!!
The practice today was later, but we were there early. By the time Eric was ready it was almost noon and since we didn't have anything for breakfast we decided to stay in Traverse city to have a breakfast / lunch. And we went to a restaurant which has been in Traverse City for ever and ever... an institution. We were thinking about having lunch, but since they serve breakfast the whole day and it looked good we got the breakfast. Wow! the amount of food was incredible!!! Too much!!! but too good, too, haha.
Well fed we went back to the farm. Just stopped to buy some groceries for the next couple of days but not too much, since we were leaving the farm next Wed and didn't want to buy something we wouldn't use.
Now the jeep was perfect, so we could take the ride we were supposed to take yesterday, but unfortunately we couldn't :P Back at the house I checked my work email and I found a mail from a customer, he wanted to go to our office in New Orleans Dec 1st and my boss told me he'd like me being there and since I was in the States... but hey! my flight back to Lima is Nov 30th! Ok, the plan was flying the 30th from Detroit to NOLA, staying there and fly back home the 2nd. If I did so, I'd arrive back home just 30min after Eric, haha. That would be hilarious. As a good TB, I started to make some research about who would be in town. I know people in NOLA and always love to go there - plus it wouldn't be so cold, haha.
This possibility was still a maybe and I'd get the confirmation next week. But I was already arranging all the details for going back to New Orleans :)

Best breakfast any time - Mable's Restaurant
It was almost noon when we were in Traverse City about driving back home, when Eric decided to go to a restaurant which is an "institution" and keeps getting voted as the best family restaurant in the area - trust me, it is!
We were thinking about having lunch but noticed that they serve breakfast the whole day. It was difficult to make a decision about what to eat, since they have a broad menu which available all day--so if you want breakfast for lunch, you can have it and so we did. The food is American style. Huge portions of great home cooked food at decent prices. You'll find bacon, eggs, omelets, pancakes and also vegetarian choices. There is a "Just Enough" section on the menu in case you don't care to eat a huge portion. Their breakfast is great and with reasonable prices. They baked their own bread and you will see a lot of people coming to buy it. Be sure to grab some baked goods from their bakery... The desserts looked amazing, but we were so full we couldn't have any... well, next time, hehe
Mabel's is well located. Entering the restaurant is like walking back in time! From the Barbie collection with the hand-knitted clothes, to the fresh bread displays, so neat! It has comfortable booth seating, and it's a comfortable place. We were lucky and were seated right away, but if you have to wait, let's do it. It's so worth.
I like the relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. If you are in the area and don't know where to eat but want to have an American experience, go to Mabel's. You won't be disappointed.
