The next day we were to take a boat at 12 to our lamb barbeque at an estensia. But before that German offered to take us for a short kayak trip up another river to a lago to have a final view of the torres massif. We took up the offer and were off in the morning sunshine.

As has been the case it started of easily enough but as we went up the river the currents got too strong. We ended up in the water up to our chest dragging the kayaks. At one point German had to throw a rope and drag us and the kayaks further up the river. Finally we trudged through some reeds to the lago. Thankfully the weather was good and we had fine views of the torres.

The kayak back was much easier. We stripped down to dry ourselves out and change into dry clothes as the boat came up to the jetty. Tourist clad in beanies, down jackets and waterproof gear piled out of the launch and it much have been quite a site for them to see 2 chinese guys walking around the campsite half naked as if it was a hot day in Singapore.

The boat ride to the estancia was eventful in the sense that we drank up all the beers on the boat.

Lunch at the estancia was really good. There was a huge plate of BBQ lamb piled up high along with some chicken and sausages. We were like ravages and asked for a second helping.

Back on the boat with our full bellies all we could do was fall asleep. We arrived back in Puerto Natales sorted out some stuff said our goodbyes to our excellent guides and hopped on the bus back to Punta Arenas.

Tomorrow we’d be flying to the atacama desert and the town of San Pedro de Atacama.
