Leaf, MS

Made a long weekend of President's Day this year and went to Mardi Gras for a day while visiting two friends in Mississippi about an hour north of the Gulf Coast. It really amazes me how both areas haven't recovered from Hurricane Katrina very much. Personally, even though NOLA had a larger 'human' crisis, I think the Gulf Coast of Mississippi suffered MUCH greater devastation.

Leaf, MS

Arrived to visit to great friends that moved to Leaf, MS and bought this little farm and house after theirs in Gulport, MS was completely destroyed during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The farmhouse was built back in the early 1900s on a different piece of property and served as the hotel for Leaf during it's era as a logging and lumber town.  My friends are restoring the house on the inside and have chosen to leave the outside in it's rustic condition.  The inside, however, is filled with antiques from around the world and line with beautiful golden heart of pine floors.  The kitchen cabinets and fireplace are all hand made from mahogany.
