La Paz Students / University Parade

This was an interesting event. Every year the students at the universities around la Paz have this parade. Essentially each major or dicipline learns a traditional bolivian dance, and then masters it, get together a costume, and do this parade. They also have musicians busting out the various bolivians instruments, it really is a treat.
Meanwhile you find a cafe selling seats, get one, and get loaded on beer and bolivian food, like llama jerky.
This was a great, fun event, espicially when the liqour started flowing. It wasn't uncommon to see one of the few backpackers in bolivia running by with a drum trying to join inon the fun.
After a few too many beers some old ladies approach us, turns out there son lives in Rhode Island, allright a fellow new englander! So what do they tell us to do? They buy us a few drinks, run out into the parade, and get our photos with the girls to make our friends jealous. To do this we offer them a drink of our beer to "please the gods". OK so what the hell, enjoy the photos, they do more than my crappy writing can tell you about this odd, but fun experience. oooo and when it gets dark fights break out, so you might want to skip out before then since they parade on a loop anyways!
