Tuesday at Milford Sound - wow - and then goodbys

If I thought the scenery had been spectacular before, today I found out that it could get even better. We went to Milford Sound, and even though it's north and not far from Queenstown (as the crow flies), it’s a long drive by the time you get around the mountainous spine of the island.
My husband and I sat in the back of the bus across from Leslie and Dave. Leslie and I kept jumping from one side of the bus to the other ("musical chairs" without music so I guess it was "photo-op chairs"), trying to get photos of the unbelievable scenery on both sides of the bus. (I’m including enough photos for today to make up for the two previous days lack.)
We photographed the Kea birds hanging out near a tunnel. These birds seem attracted to anything shiny and (according to a newspaper) are currently developing lead poisoning from eating flashing from the ever present tin roofs. The Kea we saw were in more danger of developing whiplash from trying to attack windshield wipers and car rooftops.
