Paleis 't Loo
So after writing some reviews I should write something about the meetup too :)
But I'll start at the beginning, meetups are a good way of seeing something more from my own country. So when Apeldoorn was mentioned I looked in to what there was too see around Apeldoorn and since I had never been to Paleis het Loo I decided to go there before the meetup. The day before the meetup I got a message from Brett saying I could ride with him and two friends of him (Melissa and Ryan) but since I was staying in Apeldoorn for the night and they weren't I decided to drive myself. When I arrived at the Palace and I started to look around the stables. Then I got a message from Brett saying that they where already at the palace, so I walked from the stables to the palace to join them for a walk through the garden followed by the tour through the palace.
overview of the palace and gardens
We stayed at the palace for almost two hours and then headed toward the centre of Apeldoorn, I parked my car at the hotel and then drove with the others to the centre. Since it was lunchtime we searched for a place to sit down and have lunch. We found a nice place (Gijs and Katrien) where I had a nice hamburger with fries. Around two a group was going to do some sightseeing in Apeldoorn, we had planned to join them but due to some miscommunication and us having lunch around two we decided to do some sightseeing by ourselves. We bought a walkingtour brochure at the VVV called Jugendstill in Apeldoorn. Since they only had it in dutch I got to play tourguide. During the tour we also went to my hotel again since I forgot to bring the presents that we had for the birthday tb's.
The tour was ok, it was nice to do some walking and see a bit of the city but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
When we finished the walking it was almost time to meet the others and since we where close to De Graaf van Vlaanderen we decided not to walk all the way to the trainstation but to phone Patricia and tell her we would wait in the cafe. De Graaf van Vlaanderen is a belgian beer cafe so Brett decided to take one of the belgian special beers and Melissa and Ryan took a normal belgian beer. First Phillip and Mark joined us, quickly followed by most of the other TB's. The first rounds where bought by the birthday people (Bart-Jan, Patricia an Anna-Isabel). And very soon it was time to find our restaurant where we had reserved for a three hour buffet. In advance Jos had taken care of a special dessert for the birthday people and we also gave them some gifts.
During the diner two more people joined us, so we where finally with 21 people. I had a great evening talking to people and having a lot of fun. After diner it was time to say goodbye to the first people that had to make their way back home. With about ten persons we went to another place to have some more drinks. What started as a quiet bar became a very busy bar, but at the end it was already more quiet again. Around three we decided to go back to our hotel and said goodbye to Grace wo had been the last with us (the ones that where staying in Apeldoorn: Jos, Anna-Isabel and me). It had been a long day, but also a lot of fun :)
