From the airport to our resort

I recall having not slept too well the previous night and hence the alarm ringing at 4am was an UTTER drag. Like, terrible. But we got ready and made our way to the airport around 7am. The Bengaluru traffic as horrible as ever. Our Jet Airways flight was peaceful, the flight took about 2 hours and we finally landed in Cochin, or should I say Kochi at about half past 10. The airport is lovely. It's very Victorian, 2 big pink buildings side by side, one for the international terminal (Kerala has a huge community of Indians that work in the Gulf/Middle East and Cochin is one of the gateways for Arab airlines) and the other for the domestic flights.

A driver was waiting for us, he picked us up and drove us for about another two hours to our resort - the Lake Palace resort that was recently constructed.

Our resort....
I was feeling sleepy and dozing on and off during the ride, but everytime I woke, I couldn't imagine that I was in an India where things were still so green, so quiet and traffic actually well ordered.

We got on to a ferry for the rest of the ride, this one about 20 minutes or so and finally reached our destination - our resort. You know when sthg looks that serene that you're going to love it!

We were famished, all 3 of us and the kitchen was closed. But we made our way to our room - or should I say, cottage on water as seen in the picture below. It was spacious - big beds, big bathroom, cable TV, lovely balcony, etc., ordered in room service and took a nap.

In the evening, we went for a cruise along the backwaters of Kerala. This was heaven. An absolute must for anyone who wants to just take in nature. Kerala being a country that relies a lot on waterways (much like Venice perhaps?) has a lot of establishments along the backwaters including post offices, grocery stores, etc. Our ride started around the time sunset began and ended as it was pitch dark. Dinner was lovely Kerala food that's very coconut based, and we called it an early night around 11pm.
