made it to Pinas after 10 yrs
After a blearry eye stop over in Seoul, South Korea (Incheon Airport), I arrived in Manila, Nov 16th. I walked into the terminal and the heat + humidity were imminent. I was worried that the customs people were going to open my luggage. Thanked goodness, that they mistook me as a korean national or something. The last thing I wanted was them 'eying' my gifts to my relatives. I found a baggage cart and easily spotted my cousin Divine and her husband waiting for me.
On the way to Tandang Sora, I noticed that the traffic was crazy and Quezon City + Manila didn't look like it were before. There were more developments and just more people.
When we got home, my Aunt Erie was really happy to see me again.
She even gave me my own room with air conditioning next to the big kitchen. I made sure that I brought my mini-camcorder because I wanted to capture memories to just talking to my Aunt and my trip in general (my own Globe Trekker host wannabe).Aunt Erie suggested that I sleep but due to jet lag, I was wide awake. My cousin Tess came over that afternoon and I started giving away the gifts. I was happy that they like the gifts and my brother and sister sent gifts too. I manage to fit all of the goods in one big luggage and a mini-duffell bag.
I was sent a notice that our 5 tickets to the 'Wowowee' tv game show were moved from Nov 21st to 20th. I was trying to make sure my former nanny, Ate Peding, could join us.
I heard that people would camp-out on the line they day before just to snatch some Wowowee tickets. Since most of my cousins are coffee drinkers (instant Nescafe), I requested my favorite tea with milk. I actually wanted honey as well but it would have been expensive. I drink my tea the British way.The whole afternoon was spent telling stories about my life in NYC & catching up with their stories. My cousin Danica was dressed to impress Sunday night because she was heading to the Rihanna and Chris Brown concert. The next day, she was commenting that the women wore high heel shoes to the event which was a mistake. The concert was held on a grassy field and the ground was a bit muddy due to the rain the rain before.
