Near the London Bridge
On tuesdaymorning at 06.50 a.m. we took off from airport Weeze in Germany to visit London for three days. We landed on schedule in England. The airport Stansted is surprisingly big. We bought tickets from the Stansted Express. This is a train directly going to london. The prize of the ticket is 27 pound for a return . In about 40 minutes we arrived at the station Liverpool street. This station is connected with the underground service lines from london. We took the metro to Paddington. Our hotel was located in that area. Of course we were very early in our hotel, so we left our luggage overthere and took the metro again to discover London. We took the metro to the London Bridge. This is the point where you also can see the towerbridge.
The metro has several lines.
The circle line is the most important one, this is the yellow collor on the card. This is the line you would use the most. Than there is the district line, the green collor on the card. It starts in Edware Road, in Earls court you have to change line to go to victoria. From south Kensington you can take the picadilly line, it will take you to piccadilly circus. Before you will go to the platform you read the signs to which direction you want to go. The color will tell you which train you have to take. Also in the train the collors correspondent with the subway lines. Always remember what the end of the line says. That is important to know in what direction you want to go. When you arrive at stansted airport, you will enter london at the liverpoolstation.
This is a very big station. From that point you can take the yellow line. This is a circle line.(it drives really in a circle). I bought a three days card for the metro. I was glad i did, because london is so big, you can't walk that far. The prize of the card was 17 pound.
a view over the Thames
If you have time enough, you really should see a musical in the Strand district covent garden. We went to the musical Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcaot. It was very beautifull! An updated version retelling the bible, but in a very modern and funny way. The music is from Andrew Lloyd Webber. What i liked very much was the childrens choir. They stayed until the end and they where also performing, very sweet! And what a voices did those children have!
