Me with one of the seven wonders of the world

As we are spending our time in Delhi, it was an early morning and full day to travel to Agra.  We hired a driver which cost $210 USD for the day and included a mini van with 7 passengers.  Our morning began after 6 a.m. as the drive is roughly 5+ hours from Delhi to Agra.  Traffic is intense and really slows down the trip.  However, once viewing the majestic Taj Mahal in person, the long trip and traffic was well worth it.  We made only one stop along the way and that was to tour the "mini Taj" which is the Tomb of Akbar.  At both the Tomb and Taj Mahal, there were persistent street vendors...don't say "yes" or "no" to them if you don't intend to buy from them.

It was difficult but I was able to pick up the Taj Mahal with 2 fingers
Simply avoid contact with them.  I was able to get some really nice elephant souvenirs for roughly $1 each...so the best process is to show interest as you are heading back to your vehicle and leaving the grounds.

It is recommended to hire a guide once you get the the Taj Mahal.  We paid $20 for a great guide who was able to get us through long lines quickly and gave us great vantage points for nice photos.  Like all other "hired" guides and drivers, they want to take you to other places where they receive commission if you as guests purchase from them.  I had heard in advance to be firm and strictly say "no" if you are not interested...we did and it worked.

If traveling from Delhi to Agri, some of my friends traveled by train and it was much quicker but very crowded and not very clean.

Obviously, the Taj Mahal is a must see destination.
