Starting from San Diego, driving upto Phoenix, checking out everything in the vicinity, and then driving to Sedona.

Playing House in Roxaboxen

If some bright spark were to come up with a way to recycle beer after you take a leak, we woulda been as rich as Cindy Hensley-McCain (well, almost...), considering that we'd just run through a trunk load stacked full of beer on a 4 hour drive from San Diego to Yuma. Course, there were plenty of 'leak' stops on the way, and in between the cat-calls and rude jokes, we must have fertilized and watered enough roadside soil to make the spots flourish with greenery even in the fall.

By the time we took the exit onto I-8, entered Arizona and reached Yuma, I was wondering if I would be able to come out of this trip with my senses intact. When you're in the splendid company of people whose sole purpose of existence is to drink everything in sight and find the next funny thing to laugh at, its a bit difficult to keep in touch with reality.

Being the designated nerd in the group, I had been charged with finding and locating some good hotels in Yuma. I had printed out pages from a lotta them. As we turned into Winterhaven Drive, I tried to put up my recommendations, and the very first printout was greeted with peals of laughter. Never did get a chance to put up the rest, because they all wanted to see what the first one looked like.

You see, my very first recommendation was headlined www.shiloinns.com. And that got turned into Sheloins, which I have to admit that even I found funny. The hotel wasn't so bad. $130 for the room and had a lot of stuff inside, including a microwave, refrigirator, coffee maker and stuff. Nice view of the courtyard. I was asked about the attractions in Yuma, and the idea of building kiddie houses with rocks and stuff at Roxaboxen was somehow highly appealing to a sloshed  group of nitwits. I'll let you know soon what kind of art deco construction we managed to cook up.
