First was Istanbul. I wasn't really excited about seeing Turkey, it was just kind of an extra stop or two on the way to Greece.
Next was Greece. We saw Mykonos, Delos, Santorini, Corfu, Crete and Olympia. Greece is a beautiful country and each island had its own charms. I have to say that my favorite was Santorini. It is just so essentially Greece! Gorgeous and so unique. Although Corfu was fun too, we just wandered around the streets and found fun little shops and cafes.
Egypt was a place that I was really excited about, somewhere I probably wouldn't have gone if it wasn't for this cruise. It was quite a drive to Cairo (about 3 hours) and it was very hot there! The pyramids are just hard to put into words.
Athens was our last stop. By the time we got there we were pretty worn out! We got to our hotel, then headed to see the sights. After figuring out where the Acropolis was and how to get there (a little hike!) we finally saw the Parthenon in all its scaffolded glory...I guess those places require a little bit of upkeep or something... :)
After seeing everything we could, we headed back home...28 hours later I landed in Portland. Every time I travel I am reminded how much I hate flying. Anyway, Greece is beautiful, Turkey is amazing and Egypt is awe-inspiring!
