another Texas boom city
June 6, 2008
The known aura of Austin is wide spread and the reputation is well
deserved. The capital city of Texas has a ton of great things that puts
it on my list of cities worth visiting. From being the political seat
of TX to being home of the UT Longhorns with its vast amount of
beautiful ladies, Austin is most known for being the “weird liberal
town in the heart of the conservative county” – Dan Bishop. Thanks to
the tech boom, Austin is experiencing a growth explosion which is
evident sitting through the horrible traffic seeing all of the
construction around town. The downtown area is not the most appealing
at first glance but offers a ton of great local hot spots for live
music and atmosphere. My favorite is Baby Acapulco’s Mexican cantina,
home of the purple ever-clear margarita. Enjoy the first one because
you’re on a 2 drink limit. As Austin grows it is expanding out to the
TX hill country where the aesthetic value and climate both improve.
Unfortunately this great city will end up the north side of Texas’
second metroplex as Austin and San Antonio (which is also growing
tremendously) will grow into each other in the next 10 to 20 years.
Enjoy the small town “weird” feel of Austin now before its gone.
