Balmoral Beach to Manly Beach Trekking

one fine saturday morning, the three of us decided to go trekking from balmoral beach, which is roughly 30 minutes from sydney cbd by bus (york street depot), to manly beach (one of the northern beaches which is roughly over 30 minutes by ferry from circular quay).
we packed our backpacks and filled it with 1 liter of water, bananas, apples and nuts. we caught the bus from york street ($4 one way) and got off at military road and walked down to the beach. we walked up and stopped at the obelisk beach for a quick swim...it was a sunny and warm day and so the cool beach water was a welcome relief...we stayed there for an hour and moved on...this was around 10 am...we went back to the trek path and followed the trail.
the trail traverses through park reserves with beautiful gum and eucalypt trees.
the bushland was enjoyable as we have to cross some streams and mini falls. the view on top of the hill was excellent. and in one spot, the sydney skyline is visible. we mostly rest for 5 to minutes to absorb the scenery and rest. we had lunch at one of the reserve parks along the way. i had fish and chips and ice tea. they had hamburgers and coffee.
it took us almost 4 hours to finish the trek. it was really enjoyable. there were people we meet along the way who were also trekking but doing the reverse, from manly to balmoral. some of the people who were heading the same way us as were all so fast. we lost track of them. but we took our time and enjoyed the trek. no need to rush.
we are planning on doing it again this summer. if you have time and if you are in sydney, i recommend this trek.
