Day 15 - V & A Waterfront

For some of us this was to be the highlight of the vacation.  Enough said about that right now.

Living in Miami we are smart enough not to go to any major metropolis during rush hour.  We did leave around 8:30 and went to Gordon's Bay waterfront.   They have a great internet cafĂ© that also serves a wonderful croissant and egg breakfast also.  We killed time there and left around 10:00 really looking forward to an adventure.  Our hosts, Ona and Hennie, seemed less than enthusiastic about it and used the term "flea market" at times.  Oh well, we had to find out on our own.

Yea well, flea market it was.  An eclectic flea market of native crafts, local shops, jewelry, boutiques and restaurants it was.  The prices and selection of goods in the craft areas were outstanding and the vendors more than friendly and helpful.  As to be expected though the boutiques were much more expensive and it seemed like the attitude of the sales people was inversely proportional to the prices.
The area made for some nice photos and the Two Oceans Aquarium, http://www.aquarium.co.za, was very nice.  Xuchi spent most of her time in there.
As I said earlier, living near a big city we know commuter traffic so we left about 4:30 to miss it.  Yea right, miss it?  We were right in the middle of it.  The drive from Gordon's Bay was about 35 minutes and the return was almost 90.  Oh well....
On the drive back we decided, since this was to be our last night, we would head to Gordon's Bay waterfront and do what is called in Miami, a pub crawl.  Now that was fun.  In one tavern we purchased a small board and placed out names on it.  They hung it from the ceiling for all eternity, or until it fell down.  We hit another tavern and finally decided to head to the marina for dinner, again.
For some reason we were less enthusiastic then the last times we ate there.   Were we tired?  Yes we were.  Were we depressed about leaving the next day?  Absolutely.
Back to the apartment to pack.
