we went to bali during the holy week. we stayed at the novotel hotel at nusa dua. it was a great place for the price we paid. real value for money.
one thing i have noticed about bali, it was like the philippines. when we were driving from the denpasar airport to our hotel, the narrow streets and the house styles were all similar to one of our suburbs in quezon city, philippines. if not for the temples on top of almost all the fences, i could have sworn i was in the philippines.
we arrived in the afternoon at the denpasar airport. thankfully my friend was there to pick us up and take us to our hotel. he arrived a week earlier and had been staying at the resort and having fun. it was sunny and we couldnt wait to get to the hotel to take a shower and hit the beach.
i love the happy hour. buy one cocktail and get one free for 2 australian dollars. you can just imaging how many i had had for 10 bucks.
we went to a restaurant on the beach and had seafood platter. it was our friend's birthday that night so we ended up buying some wine to cellebrate. we went to town to do some serious clubbing and drinking and didnt get back to the hotel until early morning.
we had a late breakfast. it was delicious. i love buffet breakfast. you have so many choices. i tried almost everything. and i was so stuffed i could hardly walk. we went to the beach to lie down and had a bit of a sun tan. afer a bit, we walked the stretch of the beach and looked at the different neighboring resorts.
the beach itself is not that great and not white at all. it was a dark sand. but the water was clear. it was just so relaxing in bali. it must be the tropical breeze that makes you mellow and at peace. the fresh water pool after the beach swim was a welcome change and quite soothing. it was so cool. we stayed in the pool bar and had some cocktails while we chatted and appreciate the lifestyle.
our driver from the ariport offered his service to tour us with his car around the island for $100 the whole day. we closed the deal ad he picked us up early the next day. we went to ubud, the rice terraces, the volcano, the shows, the silver shops, the curvings, the paintings, the works. it was a fun tour.
we went back to the hotel late in the evening. we ahd dinner at the hotel and had some cocktails. and then called it a night.
the next day, we took a shuttle bus to kuta to do some shopping a bit of look around. we were apprehensive on going there because there was an advisory that came out just before we flew in. we ignored it. but nothing happened and it was actually eerily quiet in kuta. we went around the shops that sell all the fake designer items. they were all cheap. we went back to the hotel after lunch because we were going to meet up with friends later in the afternoon. we were oicked up at the hotel by our friend and he brought us to a bar in semanyak. we had a few beers until dark and went to dinner at an italian restaurant by the beach. it was a lovely restaurant with pathways to the beach lit by torches and candlelights. very romantic.
we went clubbing afterwards and had a real good time.
it was hard to leave the place after a week. we were so used to the lifestyle...life was really a beach!...but we decided to come back again and have a great time.
